The government published in the Official Gazette (DO) of this Thursday, 27, the regulatory structure of the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), an organ of the Presidency of the Republic that aims to regulate, supervise and develop guidelines in relation to the General Data Protection Law. The ANP will have 36 positions and will be led by the Directing Council composed of the Chief Executive Officer, in addition to the administrative structures of the chief of staff, the General Secretariat, the Legal Counsel, the Ombudsman and the Internal Affairs.

The main demand from various sectors of society, the ANPD was regulated one day after the Senate approved Provisional Measure 959, which nullifies the extension of the LGPD’s entry into force until December 31, 2020. With the decision, to come into force , the new legislation needs to be signed by President Jair Bolsonaro.
