Digital Law & Data Privacy

The Software, Computing and Internet Commission has acted in discussions involving the interaction between brands and domain names, software protection, identification of unfair competition acts via social networks and others. The Commission is also involved in discussions related to artificial intelligence, cryptocurrencies, blockchain and other technological innovations.

The Commission’s work is currently focused on the brand-new General Data Protection Act – LGPD (Law 13.709/18), which involves collecting and processing personal data. This act will be enforced in 2020, and it will affect companies of all sizes. The Commission is currently training a working force to adequate ABPI standards and other associations in the area to where the LGPD will be available.
