CSD-ABPI and CBMA Sign Cooperation Agreement

In a joint effort to promote and strengthen the use of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods in Brazil, the Brazilian Center for Mediation and Arbitration (CBMA) and the Dispute Resolution Center of the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (CSD-ABPI) have signed a cooperation agreement. The partnership aims to promote research, spread knowledge, and advance mediation and arbitration practices throughout Brazil.

In addition to promoting mediation and arbitration, the collaboration will also involve organizing courses, lectures, training sessions, and other academic and professional activities for arbitrators, mediators, and attorneys who specialize in Intellectual Property.

The initiative also supports the mission of enabling environments where parties can resolve their disputes either collaboratively with a mediator or through specialized arbitration in a manner that is efficient and impartial.

“This agreement reflects our commitment to partnering with institutions that share our goals of advancing alternative dispute resolution methods. As experts in Intellectual Property, we are confident this will amplify our voice in a field where we already have a strong track record of demonstrating the benefits of mediation and arbitration to businesses and society at large,” said Manoel J. Pereira dos Santos, President of CSD-ABPI.

“With this partnership, users of mediation and arbitration will gain even greater clarity on how to engage in these processes safely and effectively. In addition, arbitrators, mediators, and lawyers across Brazil will have access to high-level professional training in the application of alternative dispute resolution techniques,” added Mariana Freitas de Souza, President of CBMA.

Under the agreement, CBMA and CSD-ABPI will provide various benefits to members, experts, and students, including discounts on training programs and events, along with institutional and logistical support for initiatives led by both organizations.
