The ABPI Dispute Resolution Center (Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property) will hold the second edition of its Intellectual Property Arbitration Competition, called 2nd CSD-ABPI Moot. Based on the simulation of an arbitration procedure involving a hypothetical conflict of Intellectual Property rights, the competition aims to encourage the use of arbitration in Intellectual Property and will take place between 23 and 7/31/2022.
The case will be made available on the competition’s website according to the event’s schedule, which has already been disclosed by the Organizing Committee on the CSD-Moot website and on social media. Teams from educational institutions offering an undergraduate or graduate degree in Law can participate in the tournament; law firms of any Brazilian state, formally constituted before the OAB; and academic/student organizations or associations. Team members must be studying or have completed the Law course for a maximum of four semesters from the deadline for registration in the competition. The competition will have a maximum limit of 20 teams entered.
The 2nd CSD-Moot will comprise only an oral phase, held in Portuguese, through the ZOOM platform, whose access links will be indicated in due course by the Organizing Committee. There will be no written phase.
All members and advisors of the winning team will be granted one year of free association with the ABPI, which includes free access to all events promoted by the entity (except the ABPI Congress and paid courses). The best speaker, regardless of whether or not he participates in the winning team, will receive a free year as an ABPI member, with free access to all events promoted by the association, including the 2022 ABPI Congress (except paid courses).
The only one of its kind with an exclusive focus on IP arbitration, the CSD-ABPI Moot was conceived along the lines of renowned tournaments of its kind and will be held again in 2022 due to the resounding success of the first edition in 2021.
