1st CSD-ABPI Moot doubles the number of teams to 16 and discloses a fictitious case of the competition

After the great demand for registrations in the 1st CSD-ABPI Moot – Arbitration Competition in Intellectual Property held by the Dispute Resolution Center of ABPI (Brazilian Intellectual Property Association), the Organizing Committee doubled to 16 the maximum number of teams that can join. enter the competition. The fictitious case of the competition, which will take place on the 3rd and 4th of July next, involving elements of arbitration, brands, copyright and industrial design, has also been disclosed. “We created the CSD-ABPI Moot to spread the culture of arbitration among the IP community in Brazil and, it seems, we will have very high level debates”, says Caio de Faro Nunes, member of the competition’s Organizing Committee.

So far, six law firms (Dannemann Siemsen; Demarest Advogados; Gusmão & Labrunie Advogados; Henrique Arake Advocacia Empresarial; Inglez Werneck Cury Ramos Françolin Advogados; and Kasznar Leonardos Advogados) have registered three universities (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul) – UFRG; Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie; and Universidade de São Paulo – USP), and an academic organization / association (Academic Intellectual Property League – LAPI).

The only one of its kind with an exclusive focus on IP arbitration, the 1st CSD-ABPI Moot aims to train and educate law students and young lawyers about the practice of arbitration in the field of Intellectual Property. It is a simulated arbitration competition, along the lines of other renowned national and international tournaments, such as the CAMARB Brazilian Arbitration Competition, Willem C. Vis Moot and Oxford Intellectual Property Law Moot.

Members of the winning team will be given one year free of charge as members of ABPI, which includes access to all events promoted by the association, except for its annual Congress. The best speaker, whether participating or not on the winning team, will be granted one year of free membership as a member of ABPI, with free access to all events, in this case including their participation in the annual Congress.

Team registration will remain open until 16/05/2021. Listener registrations are also open, which can be made up to the date of the event.
