The Technical Group for the Evaluation of the Intellectual Property Regulatory Framework, linked to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Development, has concluded the Final Report, within the scope of the National Intellectual Property Strategy. The Report, in which ABPI had a significant contribution, includes Data Collection, Mapping of Devices for Review, and Conclusion.
The Group evaluated 46 proposals for normative changes and 17 for administrative and procedural adjustments. There was consensus on ensuring budgetary and financial conditions for the BPTO to carry out its activities and on the need to disseminate knowledge about Intellectual Property and stimulate the use of patent protection. The disagreement was due to proposals for updating the normative devices of patent law.
The next steps of the Group include presenting the result of the work to GIPI, identifying those that should advance as government proposals, analyzing regulatory impacts, conducting a public consultation, and submitting a regulatory update proposal.
The Technical Group, created within the scope of the Interministerial Group on Intellectual Property, of which ABPI is a part, was established by GIPI/ME Resolution No. 3 of February 25, 2022, with a one-year mandate.
