Salusse, Marangoni, Parente & Jabur Advogados Team Wins the 4th CSD-ABPI Moot

The team representing Salusse, Marangoni, Parente & Jabur Advogados won the 4th CSD-ABPI Moot, an arbitration competition featuring hypothetical Intellectual Property cases organized by CArb-ABPI. A pioneer in the Intellectual Property field, the competition has become one of Brazil’s most established events of its kind.

The winning team comprised Flora Caramel Telles, Giulia Sartor, Júlia Lopes da Silva, Larissa Oliveira Silva, Mariana Aponte de Assis, and coach Vinicius Ueda. Second place went to Kasznar Leonardos, and third place to Pinheiro Neto Advogados.

The three best oralists were also announced:

Prizes included R$18,000.00 and one year of complimentary ABPI membership for all members and coaches of the champion team, with free access to ABPI events (excluding paid courses and the Congress). The runner-up team received R$9,000.00. The best oralist received R$3,000.00 and one year of complimentary ABPI membership (excluding paid courses), as well as free access to the ABPI International Congress in 2026 (lodging and transfers not included).

Held on September 27–28, the 4th CSD-ABPI Moot featured qualifying and knockout rounds. Over the weekend, 12 teams—made up of university students and young attorneys from law firms—competed before 48 arbitrator-evaluators across 15 rounds, with 98 team participants in total (including 20 coaches). The final was streamed on YouTube, reaching a peak live audience of 273 viewers during the event.

This year’s hypothetical case involved a Request to Commence Arbitration concerning disputes among companies, startups, and influencers about games and UGC (User-Generated Content)—a timely topic reflecting the contemporary legal challenges of the digital economy and generating rich debate.

“We are very proud of the results of this 4th Moot, a CArb-ABPI project launched in 2020. It crowns a long process of planning and development that relied on the voluntary collaboration of ABPI members,” said Manoel J. Pereira dos Santos, President of CSD-ABPI. “It is inspiring to see young people so engaged in arbitration and Intellectual Property. Congratulations to all the teams for their dedication and for making this edition of the CSD-ABPI Moot so special.”
