Public Consultation for the National Intellectual Property Strategy
ABPI is already analyzing the proposals contained in Public Consultation No. 46, of August 7th, 2020, of the Secretariat for the Development of Industry, Commerce, Services, and Innovation (SDIC), which will establish a National Intellectual Property Strategy (ENPI), and forward its comments and suggestions in due time.
The Public Consultation carried out through the Special Secretariat for Productivity, Employment, and Competitiveness (SEPEC), as the executive office of the Interministerial Group on Intellectual Property (GIPI), is structured in seven axes: the use of intellectual property to leverage competitiveness; the dissemination of knowledge in intellectual property; institutional governance; legal frameworks; legal certainty; the generation of intelligence from intellectual property information; and the insertion of Brazil in the global intellectual property system.
ENPI’s drafting work started in September 2019, with the restructuring of GIPI. In addition to the 10 ministries that compose the body, the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO), the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI), and the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) also took part in the ENPI drafting.
