Parliamentary Front in Defense of IP is relaunched in the House of Representatives

The Joint Parliamentary Front in Defense of Intellectual Property and of Fighting Against Piracy, of which ABPI is a member, was relaunched last March 12th at the House of Representatives, in Brasília, Brazil. With 216 deputies, 16 senators and representatives of private-sector entities, the Front will prioritize the project that creates the provisional patent application, with simplified requirements and term (see PL10920/18). The group coordinator is Deputy Mariana Carvalho (PSDB-RO).

According to parliamentarians attending the event, another priority will be support for the plan of the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO) to increase the number of patent registrations by 20%, 22.4% for trademarks and 25% for industrial design. The Front will also follow the public consultation on the Brazilian Intellectual Property Strategy to be launched by the Ministry of Economy within the scope of the Interministerial Group on Intellectual Property (GIPI).
