Launch of ABPI’s 2nd CSD-ABPI Moot

ABPI’s Dispute Resolution Center will hold the second edition of its Intellectual Property Arbitration Competition, named the 2nd CSD-ABPI Moot. Based on the simulation of an arbitration proceeding involving a hypothetical conflict of Intellectual Property rights, the competition aims to encourage the use of arbitration in Intellectual Property and will be held between the 23rd and 31st of July 2022.

The case will be made available on the competition’s website according to the event’s schedule, which has already been disclosed by the Organizing Committee on the CSD-Moot website and social media. Teams from educational institutions offering an undergraduate or graduate degree in Law, law firms from any Brazilian state formally constituted before the OAB (Brazilian Bar Association), and academic/student organizations or associations may participate in the tournament. Team members must be attending or have completed Law School for a maximum of four semesters counting from the publication of the Competition Rules. The competition will have a maximum limit of 20 registered teams.

The 2nd CSD-Moot will comprise only one oral phase, held in Portuguese, through the Zoom platform. Access links will be indicated in due course by the Organizing Committee. There will be no written phase.

All members and advisors of the winning team will be granted one year of free ABPI membership, including free access to all events promoted by the association (except ABPI’s Congress and paid courses). The best speaker, regardless of whether he is part of the winning team or not, will receive a year of free ABPI membership and free access to all events promoted by the association, including the ABPI’s 2022 Congress (except paid courses).

The only one of its kind with an exclusive focus on IP arbitration, ABPI’s CSD- Moot was conceived along the lines of renowned tournaments of its kind and will be held again in 2022 due to the resounding success of the first edition in 2021.
