Kathi Vidal, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO
Kathi Vidal is the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office). As the top authority in the USPTO’s chain of command, she leads one of the world’s most prominent Intellectual Property offices, comprising over 13,000 employees and an annual budget of nearly $4 billion. As the primary Intellectual Property advisor to the President and the US government through the Department of Commerce, Kathi has been recognized as one of the 50 most influential people in IP in 2022. At the USPTO, her mission is to assist American workers and businesses in competing and collaborating, particularly in innovative technologies.
