Júlio César Moreira officially appointed as President of the BPTO
Engineer Júlio César Castelo Branco Reis Moreira, who had been serving as president-in-office of the BPTO since January, is now officially the president of the institute. The appointment was published on July 20 in the Federal Official Gazette (DOU).
Júlio César Castelo Branco Reis Moreira holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Bahia (1990), a master’s degree in science and petroleum Engineering from the State University of Campinas (1993), and a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biochemical Process Technology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2006). Since 1998, he has been a researcher in Industrial Property at the BPTO. Moreira served as Director of Patents from June 2011 to June 2018. He has expertise in Intellectual Property, specifically in the patents field and Petroleum Engineering, and has worked as an independent researcher at the Petrobras Research Center (CENPES), focusing mainly on thermodynamic modeling, organic deposits, and phase equilibrium.
The DOU also published the appointment of the new BPTO board:
Alexandre Dantas Rodrigues – Director of Patents, Computer Programs, and Integrated Circuit Topographies.
Alexandre Lopes Lourenço – Director of Administration.
Schmuell Lopes Cantanhêde – Director of Trademarks, Industrial Designs, and Geographical Indications.
Tania Cristina Lopes Ribeiro – Executive Director.
Antonio Cavaliere Gomes has been appointed Chief Prosecutor of the Specialized Federal Attorney’s Office at the BPTO (Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office) and Bernardo Soares Teixeira Bemvindo has been appointed General Coordinator of Technology Contracts at the BPTO.
