Intellectual Property Seminar at the STJ
ABPI supports the seminar “Industrial Property in the STJ”, which will take place in a hybrid format (court conference room and Zoom and YouTube platforms) on October 20, from 8:30 am to 6 pm (BRT). The event is promoted by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and the Brazilian Institute of Procedural Law (IBDP), with the coordination of the Minister of the STJ Ricardo Villas Bôas Cueva, the lawyers Cassio Scarpinella Bueno, Osmar Paixão Côrtes and our member Marcelo Mazzola.
Minister Cueva will open the seminar, with the National Treasury Attorney, Rita Dias Nolasco, as chairperson. ABPI’s President Gabriel Leonardos will participate in the opening panel. The first panel, chaired by Minister Paulo de Tarso Sanseverino, will address the theme “Repetitive Resources and Industrial Property”, with speakers Cassio Scarpinella Bueno, Simone Schreiber, and Sérgio Shimura.
The second panel, chaired by Minister Antonio Carlos Ferreira, will discuss “Third-party intervention in industrial property”. The speakers will be Federal Judge Caroline Tauk and lawyers Fernanda Pantoja and Marcelo Mazzola.
The jurists Fredie Didier Júnior, Tatiana Campello (ABPI’s 2nd Vice-President), and Rodrigo Fux will be the speakers of the third panel ̶ “Procedural legal business in Industrial Property: perspectives and challenges” ̶ chaired by Minister Ribeiro Dantas.
The last panel of the event, chaired by Minister João Otávio de Noronha, will address “The relevance filter, Precedent 7 and IP conflicts: limits and possibilities”. The event’s coordinator Osmar Paixão and the jurists Humberto Dalla and Teresa Arruda Alvim will participate in the debates. Lawyer Ana Frazão will give the closing lecture, chaired by Professor Flávia Hill.
