German Experience in Patent Invalidity
ABPI will hold an exclusive event for its members on May 25th, discussing “The German Federal Patent Court and Patent Nullity Proceedings.” The guest speaker will be the former President of the Nullity Appeal Board of the German Federal Patent Court, Karin Friehe. Karin is an expert in proceedings relating to actions for the declaration of patent nullity, as well as appeals relating to patents, trademarks, utility models, and plant varieties. She has a degree in law and mechanical engineering and lived in Moscow for two years, where she implemented an EU-funded twinning project with Rospatent (the Russian Intellectual Property Office). Since then, Karin has participated in different EU-funded projects in Russia, Tajikistan, Bulgaria, Jordan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Serbia, and Egypt. She has been a speaker at several international conferences and training courses for future patent attorneys.
The debater will be Jacques Labrunie, a member of the ABPI Council, who will present the differences in the Brazilian patent system.
The event will be free and hybrid, online and in-person at ABPI’s headquarters in São Paulo, located at Alameda dos Maracatins, 1217 – Conj. 608, in Moema.
Those registered for the in-person modality will be received at ABPI for registration on May 25th at 8:30 am (BRT). The event will begin at 9 am (BRT).
The event will be in English, without simultaneous translation.
