On March 15th, the Brazilian and French PTOs signed two memoranda of understanding between the two institutions – one for technical cooperation in Industrial Property and the other for a Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot project.
The agreement on cooperation in IP may include the exchange of information and good practices on the development of IP protection systems, the stimulus to innovation, management, finance and quality, and training and participation in events, among others. The PPH pilot project between the two countries shall start on May 1st this year, lasting five years.
Within the scope of the PPH, participants will be able to use the result of the examination of the patent application at the Brazilian BPTO to accelerate the analysis in France and vice versa.
