ABPI inaugurates Peter Dirk Siemsen auditorium

On the morning of April 22, in a celebratory event attended by guests, the ABPI inaugurated, at its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, the Peter Dirk Siemsen auditorium, a posthumous tribute to one of the greatest icons of Intellectual Property. “Giving my father’s name to the auditorium of ABPI’s new headquarters is a great honor for us as a firm, as friends, and as a family,” said ABPI President, Peter Eduardo Siemsen. “Certainly, my father is up there very happy with this tribute and will bring his strength to encourage us to continue his legacy. Long live Intellectual Property,” he added, while cutting the ribbon to open the auditorium, alongside Elisabeth Siemsen and his son, Eric.

In a brief speech, in the presence of representatives from the WIPO, USPTO, INTA, and the Consulate General of Japan, among other authorities, the ABPI President highlighted his father’s inspiring strength. “Strict in difficult moments, but always with a unique greatness,” recalling his idea of creating ABPI “together with Carlos Henrique Fróes and our very well-known Luís Leonardo.” ABPI, he emphasized, thanks to Peter Siemsen’s internationalist vision, became the Brazilian group of AIPPI, “further strengthening Brazil’s international presence.”

Siemsen also recalled that Peter Dirk Siemsen served as Vice-President and President of ABPI and was also elected President of AIPPI. “My father’s history is intertwined with the history of ABPI and of industrial property in Brazil. His inspiration keeps alive the determination of many of us,” he added.

Peter Eduardo Siemsen thanked former ABPI President Luiz Edgard Montaury Pimenta and Executive Director Erika Silla for the tribute to Peter Dirk Siemsen, “for having supported the idea and turning it into reality.”
