ABPI creates new function to improve dialogue with AIPPI

In their last monthly meeting of 2020, the Executive Board and the Council of ABPI – Brazilian Intellectual Property Association – approved the names of members Marcos Blasi and Rafael Atab for the newly created functions of co-rapporteurs of the Brazilian Group of AIPPI – Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle.

The purpose of the new function is to improve dialogue and coordinate the flow of activities between ABPI and AIPPI, including planning and implementing joint initiatives. One of the attributions is the edition of the column AIPPI in Focus of ABPI’s Journal, which, in its last edition (nº 168), brought comments from the co-rapporteurs about two of the Resolutions approved in the 1st online edition of AIPPI World Congress, which took place in October 2020.

Blasi is a member of ABPI’s Council, expert, mediator, and arbitrator at ABPI’s Dispute Resolution Center, and partner of Gusmão & Labrunie. Atab was one of the Brazilian delegates at the AIPPI World Congress Online in 2020 and is the president of AIPPI’s Standing Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution, coordinator of ABPI’s Trademarks Study Committee, and partner of the Dannemann Siemsen firm.
