ABPI Ceduc has two new courses

For those who want to go deeper into the publishing market theme or need to think about their law firm strategies for 2021, ABPI Ceduc – ABPI’s Continuing Education Center has prepared two new courses. Both can be attended online, and for those who miss any class, it is possible to attend it later, at your convenience, on ABPI’s course platform.

Starting on December 1st, the course “Publishing Market” is organized by ABPI Ceduc, together with WIPO – World Intellectual Property Organization. The goal is to provide the beginner and the professional of the publishing sector with minimal knowledge of copyright law to deal with the actors of this segment, covering the relationships between authors, editors, booksellers, and clients. The topics are presented in clear language, following what the law says and the interpretations of the market and the courts. New issues will also be addressed, such as data extraction in the act of reading and accessibility, especially for the disabled, given the new law.

The course is organized and led by lawyer Gustavo Martins de Almeida, specializing in copyright, entertainment, trademarks and patents, personality, and the arts. He is an arbitrator and mediator appointed by the Ministry of Culture, Master and Doctor of Law from UGF and UVA, advisor to the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro, and lawyer at the Brazilian Union of Book Publishers. He is also a member of the Copyright and Entertainment Commissions of OAB-RJ and IAB-RJ.

Registration is now open, and classes will be held on December 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 7th, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (BRT). There are discounts for ABPI members. For more information about the program and registration, click here.

The course “Legal Management: Planning the Future of your Law Firm” started on November 23rd, but interested people can purchase the course on-demand and attend the recorded classes on the Ceduc platform. The course has a workload of 10 class hours.

The goal is to help lawyers and law firm managers with tools that make them able to strategically plan and structure the future of their firm. The program includes topics such as “Legal Entrepreneurship and Advocacy 5.0”, “Study of Clients and Relationships”, “Market Analysis”, “Establishing the vision of the future vision” and “Defining the coming years”.

The course is led by Lisandra Thomé, lawyer, coach, legal mentor, a strategic management consultant for law firms, and founding partner of Innova Juris. The professional is also the Professional Development Coordinator of the Lawyer at ESA/RJ (Superior School for Lawyers of the Brazilian Bar Association – Rio de Janeiro Branch), and a member of the Legal Coaching Commission of OAB-RJ (Brazilian Bar Association – Rio de Janeiro Branch).
