ABPI and WIPO renew the agreement for intellectual property courses

On December 3rd ABPI and the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO renewed an agreement to offer summer courses on intellectual property. Valid for the next two years, the agreement was signed by ABPI’s President Luiz Edgard Montaury Pimenta and WIPO Academy Executive Director Sherif Saadallah at a ceremony attended by, among others, the BPTO President Claudio Furtado, the regional director of the WIPO Brazil Office, José Graça Aranha, as well as directors of national intellectual property offices in Latin America.

The courses require class attendance and are part of an ongoing program developed by the WIPO Academy for training in several IP topics for young professionals and students, lasting two weeks. The program consists of expert lectures, case studies, and workshops on IP topics. At the end of the course, students receive a certificate of participation.

In Brazil, three editions of the course have already been held in 2018 and 2019. For the next two years, WIPO, the BPTO and ABPI will offer four sessions of the course, two in Rio de Janeiro and two in other capitals, yet to be decided.

The next session will take place from January 27th to February 7th, 2020, at ABPI’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, with video conference to ABPI’s office in São Paulo.
