ABPI and the Rio Grande do Sul Judiciary School provide specialized technical training

The Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI), in partnership with the School of the Court of Justice of Rio Grande do Sul, organized the “Intellectual Property Course for Judges, Clerks, and Interns of the TJRS.” The course was designed in a self-paced e-learning format. Enrolled participants will be able to access the TJRS course platform and watch the pre-recorded lectures.

Jéssica Pinheiro Oyarzábal, coordinator of ABPI’s Study Committee on International Intellectual Property Law, is one of the course coordinators. “Judge Ney Wiedemann of the TJRS also served as a course coordinator. The program took one year to be developed, including invitations and the recording of lectures with invited professors.”

According to Jéssica, the objective is to promote awareness of the importance of Intellectual Property within the judiciary of Rio Grande do Sul, in a responsible manner and with a strong commitment to technical qualification, considering the growing number of judicial disputes involving intellectual property rights. “The entire program was designed to address, in an objective and in-depth manner, the various current challenges in IP: the relevance of IP for the judiciary, industrial property, expert evidence, copyright, innovation, and technology such as AI and its impacts.”
