Digital Law Experts Exchange Insights
A valuable exchange of experiences ocurred on August 15 at ABPI’s office in São Paulo, during a meeting between experts from ABPI’s Dispute Resolution Center (CSD-ABPI) and international professionals, discussing Digital Law and Intellectual Property matters. Supported by ITechLaw and with participation from all four chambers of CSD-ABPI (Digital Law, Arbitration, Mediation, and Domain Names), the event was opened by CSD-ABPI President, Manoel J. Pereira dos Santos, and the Director of the Digital Law Chamber, Rodrigo Azevedo.
The presentations sparked lively debates. Rodrigo Azevedo, Director of the Digital Law Chamber at CSD-ABPI, spoke about the recent establishment of ABPI’s Digital Law Chamber. Ana Paula Bialer, a member of the National Data Protection Advisory Board at the Brazilian National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), addressed controversial topics in her presentation, ranging from the Brazilian Civil Rights Framework for the Internet to the ongoing discussion on AI regulation.
Bartosz Sujecki, Head of the Intellectual Property, IT, and Media Law Group at Van Diepen der Kroef Advocaten, shared European initiatives aimed at the extrajudicial resolution of IT-related disputes. “The meeting was a success. First, it brought together several experts from CSD-ABPI to discuss current issues in Digital Law and facilitate the exchange of experiences. We included experts from the other chambers as well, since disputes involving Digital Law matters can also be exceptionally resolved by the Arbitration and Mediation Chambers, in cases where the procedures do not meet the requirements of CDD-ABPI regulations,” commented the CSD-ABPI President.
