The BPTO and the Singapore Intellectual Property Institute (IPOS) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding within the scope of the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot project. The partnership will allow for the streamlining and fast-tracking of patent application processes between the two institutes, benefiting inventors and industry in both countries.
The PPH with Singapore will expire on April 30th, 2025, being valid for all technological fields and within the limit of 400 requests added to the BPTO partner institutes, according to Resolution PR nº 252/2019. The new PPH modality, which came into effect on December 1st, 2019, has agreements with 21 countries so far, and also with the European Patent Office (EPO).
