ABPI at the Public Consultation on Copyright

The Brazilian Intellectual Property Association – ABPI is participating in the Public Consultation (CP), opened by the Ministry of Citizenship, to prepare a draft and restatement of the Copyright Law (LDA).

Among the proposed themes for inclusion in the LDA reform, ABPI listed: Copyright and Internet; Responsibility of Internet Application Providers for Copyright Infringements; Transfer of Copyright; Limits and exceptions; the Institute’s Projection for Work on Demand; and Works protected by Copyright.

Law No. 9,610/1998 regulates Copyright in Brazil and celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2018, and it is a common understanding that with the advent of new digital technologies, especially in the Internet environment, an update is required.
